my philosophy
The very first thing that drew me to photography was the 'off' moments. I felt there was this unique power in photography to capture that in-between, imperfect, almost seemingly ugly moment that actually held so much beauty within it.
The art of photography is the ability to capture something we can't see with our own eyes. It's the ability to capture a raw beauty that this world keeps us from seeing and understanding.
Emotions, specifically, I feel like are what's most often hidden that photography exposes. Pain, joy, sorrow - these are all emotions we've known, but a photograph has the power to reveal deeper aspects of these emotions that we ourselves might not even be familiar with yet.
I carry this philosophy through all of my art, whether it be an editorial portrait or a wedding day. It's important to me that art reflects truth, but in a way that's not impacted by our own perceptions or expectations. Art is the release from this, where we can find beauty in what we might never have noticed before.
